I am late in writing a review for 桃太郎 as my visit to the Nagano area was a couple years ago, but this modest place stuck in my memory to the point that I feel I must mention it. The decor isn't much, but it's in keeping with Aoki-mura, a working class farming community.The Kumamoto style ramen with pork bone broth and big slices of braised pork belly is quite a sight to behold, and a challenge for one person to eat, even a hungry American traveler. But I was up to the challenge and enjoyed every slurp. The broth was rich, savory and satisfying. The noodles were perfectly done with a great tooth feel, and plentiful. And the braised pork was something out of a dream, tender, savory and richly satisfying. A Tokyo native took me to a famous ramen shop in Tokyo, but honestly this was more enjoyable and more memorable.

I ate Kumamoto ramen. It is a heavy pig bone system, noodles are delicious and the price is also cheap. The parking lot is narrow, there are only seats in the counter and a little rise, so it may be better to avoid the time of crowding. Next time I would like to eat Momotaro and horny boiled ramen!
